The deceased, Shohab, hails from the town’s Kazipara area.

Dr Kajol Mollik of Jessore Sadar Hospital said he had been brought to the facility around 12:45am on Saturday but had died on the way there.

“He died of excessive blood loss. There were seven knife wounds on his torso. A sharp weapon had been used to slit his throat.”

Shohag’s brother Shomraj said that around 12:30am on Saturday he received word that Shohag had been attacked in the Amtola area of Kazipara. He recovered Shohag and brought him to the hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Shomraj said his brother had worked as a contractor, but could not provide further details.

Shomraj said he had no idea who may have killed his brother. Police did not have any leads either.

Police are working to investigate the incident and arrest the perpetrators, said Kotwali Police Station SI Sobhan Shareef.
