Being informed by locals, police recovered the body from the Upazila’s Khilpara area around 10:30pm on Tuesday, said Maksudul Alam, chief of Ghatail Police Station.

The man has been identified as Helal Uddin, 35, a resident of Dubail Union. He used to make a living by reselling used goods in Ghatail.

Helal left his home on Tuesday morning just like every day to collect used goods, said Alam citing his family.

Helal remained missing since Tuesday evening and his mobile was switched off. Later, the residents of Khilpara spotted his body and reported to the local police.

The body was cut into two pieces. It seemed the killers murdered him in a planned way and the body was dumped in the crop field after stuffing it into a bin, the police said.

The motive for this killing is still unknown. Three suspects were detained for questioning over the incident.
