The incident took place on the Dhaka-Tangail Highway in the Moragang area around 11am on Monday, said Zabed Masum, inspector of local police station.

The wounded have been identified as Shikha, Abdullah aka Rashida, Alias and driver Nurnabi.

All of them have been admitted to Enam Medical College and Hospital in Savar.

The three hijras hired the car from the Jamgora area of Ashulia and were heading to Dhaka’s Uttara while another car barred their way, said Inspector Zabed.

“Then, two unidentified miscreants got out and began firing on them before fleeing towards the Abdullahpur road. All four of the car passengers were injured.”

“They were carrying the guns inside a bag,” said Rashida.

Police recovered bullet shells from the scene, Zabed said.

No motive has been found for the incident, but police are investigating, said Dhaka North Detective Bureau Police chief AFM Sayeed.
