The accident occurred at 10:15pm on Saturday, police said.

The Dhaka-bound inter-city Upoban Express left Sylhet at around 10:15pm, said Sylhet Railway Police Station OC Jahangir Alam.

“Two men tried to board the moving train while it was about 50 yards away from the station. They fell and were crushed beneath the train, dying on the spot.”

The bodies have been sent to Sylhet’s Osmani Medical College Hospital. The victims have yet to be identified.

Locals told police that the two men worked as rickshaw pullers in the Keen Bridge area, but additional details were not available.
