The prime minister says that security is the most important requirement for a developing country like Bangladesh.

Hasina made the remarks while inaugurating two metropolitan police stations in Rangpur and Gazipur through a videoconference from Dhaka’s Ganabhaban on Sunday.

“Bangladesh’s police have gained the people’s trust and confidence by performing their duties sincerely. They have been able to ensure the safety of the masses and take their duties seriously,” Hasina said.

The prime minister emphasised the importance on the contribution of police to maintain the stream of ongoing economic development over the last nine years during the two consecutive Awami League administrations. Police can also contribute to brightening the image of Bangladesh, she said.

Hasina expressed her hope that the people of Rangpur and Gazipur will get the necessary services from the new police stations.

“We believe that, with this, the security of the people in these two regions is ensured. They can live in peace and the economy can grow quickly.”
