The accident took place in Harbang area in Chakaria Upazila around 11:30am, said Sub-Inspector Nur-e-Alam of Chiringa Highway Police Outpost.
The dead have not been identified yet, according to police.
The Cox’s Bazar-bound covered van hit the autorickshaw on the Dhaka-Cox’s Bazar Highway from behind, leaving its three passengers dead on the spot, Sub-Inspector Alam told bdnews24.com.
Five injured passengers were taken to Chakaria Upazila Health Complex.
