The heroin was confiscated during a raid in the upazila’s Chor Ashariadaha area, said BGB-1 Commander Lt Col Shameem Masud Al Iftekhar.

The operation was conducted around 8:30am on Saturday by a five-member team led by BGB Sahebnagar BOP Nayeb Subedar Arshad Ali, he said.

“The trafficker fled when they noticed the BGB team’s presence and dropped a bag on the way. The bag contained 965 grams of heroin brought in from India. The value of the stash is approximately Tk 1.93 million.”

The heroin will be submitted to the heroin battalion warehouse and then publicly destroyed, said BGB official Shameem Masud.
