Prime Minister Hasina sends wheelchair to woman with physical disability

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has sent a wheelchair as an Eid gift to Ruzina Akhtar, a young woman with a physical disability who lives in Kishoreganj.

The present arrived at her home in Dhuljuri village in the Hossainpur municipal area on Tuesday, said Prime Minister’s Deputy Press Secretary Ashraful Alam Khokon.

Ruzina, who has had difficulty walking since childhood, is the daughter of local ferryman Khokon Miah.

Hasina sent Ruzina the gift after her earnest desire for a wheelchair was highlighted in an article that came to the prime minister’s attention.

She then instructed her Personal Secretary Tofazzel Hossain Miah to send a wheelchair to her home.

Kishoreganj Deputy Commissioner Md Sarwar Morshed Chowdhury delivered the gift that afternoon.

Ruzina’s parents, neighbours, Kishoreganj Awami League President Advocate Quamrul Ahsan Shahjahan and General Secretary Advocate MA Afzal were also present.
