Three die as bus crashes into tree in Gopalganj

Three people have been killed and at least 20 others injured after a bus veered out of control and crashed into a tree in Gopalganj.

The accident occurred around 11:30am on Tuesday on the Dhaka-Barishal Highway in the Chagolchira area of Muksudpur Upazila, said Faridur Bhanga Highway Police OC Sheikh Mahfuzur Rahman.

One of the dead has been identified as 25-year-old Rosina Begum. The two other bodies are of a man and a woman whose identities have yet to be confirmed.

The wounded have been taken to the upazila health complexes at Madaripur’s Rajoir and Faridpur’s Bhanga.

The local bus was headed from Faridpur to Madaripur, OC Mahfuzur said. The vehicle veered out of the driver’s control and crashed into a roadside tree, killing three on the spot.
