The candidates have been appointed to the tenth grade based on merit and existing quotas, the commission announced in a statement on Sunday.

The recommendations of 28 have been stayed due to gaps in information or due to administrative issues. The PSC has instructed the applicants to submit the necessary certificates, information and documents within the appointed time.

Last year the PSC had appointed 4,000 senior staff nurses and 600 midwives under the Health and Family Welfare Ministry’s Directorate General of Health Services.

This year the examinations were held on Feb 9. A total of 16,900 candidates gave their exams at 12 centres in Dhaka, answering a series of 100 multiple-choice questions.

The PSC finalised the list of 5,100 appointees after administering the viva interview to those candidates who passed the written test.
