President Hamid expresses condolences over former UN chief Kofi Annan’s death

President Abdul Hamid has expressed profound shock and sorrow over the death of former UN Secretary General and Nobel Peace Prize laureate Kofi Annan.

“The world’s people will remember Kofi Annan for his contribution to establishing democracy and human rights,” he said in a condolence message.

The president prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed sympathy for his bereaved family members.

Annan, a Ghanaian national, died in hospital in Bern, Switzerland, in the early hours of Saturday at the age of 80, his close associates said.
