The group began in Sayeednagar and picked up garbage on both sides of a nearly 500-metre stretch of the road.

Local shopkeepers and traders thanked the team and praised them, saying that they were doing something that the locals had not done, organisers said in a statement.

The Church of God has built churches in nearly 8,000 cities in 175 countries across the world. The group has received the Queen’s Award in the UK and has received the presidential award in the US three times for its volunteer work. It has also received presidential volunteer awards in South Korea for three generations.

The Church of God has faith in the power of ‘maternal love’ and believes that wars and the world’s complications and difficulties can be solved by spreading love to all.
