Woman, teenaged daughter among five killed in Narsingdi road crash

At least five people, including a woman and her teenaged daughter, have been killed in a head-on collision between a bus and a small passenger carrier locally called ‘Laguna’ on their way home from an amusement park in Narsingdi’s Shibpur.

They have been identified as Sharifa Begum, 50, from Raipura and her daughter ‘Jannat’, 18.

One of the ‘Laguna’ passengers died on the spot and 10 were injured when the Ena Paribahan bus hit it at Gangparh on Dhaka-Sylhet Highway around 9pm on Friday, police said.

Two died at Narsingdi Sadar Hospital and two others at Narsinghdi Zila Hospital. 

Police could not identify the three other deceased victims – a woman and two males.

Five of the seven survivors were transferred to Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition, Narsingdi Additional Superintendent of Police Shafiur Rahman said.
