She inaugurated the service through a video conference programme at the Ganabhaban on Tuesday.
“The poor will get all allowances without facing any hassle. SMS will go to the receiver's mobile,” said Hasina.
Initially, beneficiaries of Gopalganj, Narsingdi, Kishoreganj and Chapainawabganj will get the benefits through the e-payment system. Later, the prime minister spoke with the beneficiaries of these areas through video conferencing.
In the first phrase, at least 115,000 beneficiaries will receive their allowances for the April-June session directly in their bank accounts through the electric fund transfer system from Tuesday.
Later, the system will be expanded to the beneficiaries of 10 more districts this year and a total of 6.6 million people will gradually be brought under the system, according to the social welfare ministry.
