The bodies of the former Rupali Bank Principal Officer Shah Meherun Nessa Begum, 67, and her mother Monowara Begum, 94, were recovered from the Meher Manzil home in the Ambagan area on Sunday.

Meherun Nessa lived on the ground floor of the building while the remaining three floors were under construction, police said.

The unmarried Meherun Nessa had four brothers and four sisters, some of whom live abroad. She and her mother lived alone at the house.

An initial investigation suggested that Meherun Nessa was killed after being stuck on the head while her mother was strangled to death.
