The Mymensingh fire service diving squad recovered the body of 22-year-old Sanjida Binte Tanvir around 11:30am from the Sonarpur area, said Ashuganj Upazila Nirbahi Officer Maushumi Bain Heera.

They have yet to find any sign of the other missing student, Ishrak aka Mehrar, the UNO said.

Sanjida’s family lives in Dhaka’s Lakshmibazar while Ishrak hails from Dhaka’s Mogbazar, said Brahmanbaria District Police Special Branch (DIO) Imtiaz Ahmed.

Both are students of Notre Dame University.

Seven students from the university had come to Bhairab on Saturday afternoon and rented a boat for a trip to Sonarampur Chor.

The group went to bathe in the river and Sanjida and Ishrak disappeared underwater. Rescue operations began after the incident was reported.
