One was killed in a ‘shootout' with RAB in Tangail. Another man was found dead at Jashore’s Chaugachha. A packet of yaba pills was found next to his body.

The dead in Tangail has been identified as Afzal Hossin, 28. The shootout took place at Hugra Union’s Beguntal at around 5am on Friday, said RAB-12 Deputy Director Maj Mohammad Rabiul Islam.

Afzal was named in several drug cases, he said.

The dead in Jashore has been identified as Ratan who hailed from Dighalsingha village.

His family said he went missing since Thursday.

Rattan was killed in a gunfight between two gangs of criminals, said police.

His body was sent to Jashore General Hospital for autopsy.

Law enforcement agencies have been reporting death of ‘drug dealers’ in ‘shootouts’ almost every day since the nationwide drive against drugs began in May following a directive by the prime minister.

At least 200 people have been killed in last two months in similar incidents.
