All the 1,118,576 “forcefully displaced Myanmar nationals” have been registered with their biometric details or finger prints, the minister told parliament on Wednesday.

“There is no unregistered Rohingya in Bangladesh now,” he said responding to a question from the ruling Awami League’s Mohibur Rahman Manik.

The work station to register the Rohingya babies born in Bangladesh was also in operation, he added.

When the JaSod’s Shirin Akhter asked him about the ongoing crackdown on drugs, which claimed five lives on Wednesday, Kamal said the drives would continue and intensify as the people have “supported” it.

Around 700,000 Rohingyas have fled an army crackdown on militants into Bangladesh since August last year.

Bangladesh had already sheltered around 400,000 Rohingyas who fled decades of persecution in Myanmar.

Myanmar has agreed to take back the recently arrived Rohingyas after verification following worldwide criticism of its army operation described as ‘ethnic cleansing’ by the UN.

Bangladesh started registering the Rohingya refugees last year in advance for the verification.

The two countries also signed bilateral agreements as well as with the UN to repatriate the Rohingyas safely and with dignity.
