The hospital is grappling with allegations of ‘negligence’ leading to the death of a child which has triggered a huge public outcry.
RAB, led by Executive Magistrate Sarwoer Alam, began the raid on the hospital around 11:30am and examined chemicals used at the biochemistry lab, medicines, the hospital’s documents and appointment letters for the staff, according to RAB-7 Senior Assistant Director (Media) Mimtanur Rahman.
Dr Dewan Mahmud Mehedi Hasan was also present as a representative from the Directorate General of Health Services during the raid.
“We have found some irregularities and negligence at Max Hospital,” said Sarwoer at a briefing later.
The hospital authorities have been fined Tk 1 million and given 15 days to address the irregularities, he said.
