The main gas supply line to Narsingdi was damaged during construction work on a drain, according to Titas Gas authorities
The three were siblings -- sisters Jonaki, 9, and Chandni, 7, and their brother Safayet Ullah, 4.
They were the son and daughters of Helal Uddin, who hailed from the upazila’s Sakua Tekpara village.
The children had gone to visit their maternal grandparents’ house in Ghumdhar Uttar Ashchuka village with their mother.
They went missing on Saturday afternoon, said Md Mujibur Rahman, chief of the Karimganj Police Station.
“We looked for them everywhere. But the bodies came floating up from the pond by their grandparents’ home on Sunday. The family believes they drowned.”
The family has not filed a formal complaint over the matter, said OC Mujibur.
