In the face of severe criticism, Bangladesh Cricket Board or BCB has provided an air-conditioned microbus for the national women cricketers, a day after they were seen riding a local bus.

On Tuesday, the media reported that they rode a local bus to a practice session at the Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium in Chattogram.

On Wednesday, the cricketers again went to the cricket ground by local bus, but were provided with a microbus when they were returning from a practice session.

The women cricket team for the first time won the Women's T20 Asia Cup 2018 in Malaysia on June 10 by defeating six-time champions India in Kuala Lumpur.

Bangladesh's first international victory in cricket brought much excitement among the BCB officials.

But allegations of discrimination against women cricketers surfaced at the time.

In a span of two weeks, the allegation of discrimination became visible on June 19 when the women's cricket team arrived in Chattogram for the practice session.

On Tuesday, a photo of the women cricketers travelling on a worn-out local bus from their hotel to the stadium went viral on the social media.

Chattogram cricket officials have refused to comment on it.

“The vehicle has been provided after the criticism," a local sports organiser told bdnews24.com, asking not to be named.

Manager of the stadium Fazle Bari Khan Rubel told bdnews24.com: “The BCB’s logistics department looks after food, travel and accommodation of the team.”

Nobody was immediately available from the BCB for comment.

The women's cricket team attended the practice session in Chattogram as part of their preparation for three T20 matches against Ireland women's cricket team.

The match will start on June 28 in Dublin.
