Let everyone share in the joy of Eid, says President Hamid

President Md Abdul Hamid has called on everyone to ensure that the joy of Eid can be experienced by people of all classes and backgrounds.

“Eid-ul-Fitr is the most important religious festival for Muslims,” he said. “Everyone must try and ensure that people from all parts of society can experience the joy of the event. Both Eid-ul-Fitr and Ramadan can be fulfilled by sharing with one’s own joy with others.”

The president made the remarks during an Eid event at the Bangabhaban on Saturday.

The president and his wife Rashida Khanam welcomed people from all walks of life, accompanied by other members of the family.

“Islam is a religion of peace and well-being. It has no place for envy, hatred, violence or tribalism. Islam values universal welfare, human rights, mutual coexistence, tolerance and equality. These great messages and ideals should be shared with everyone.”

Speaker of the House Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury, Chief Justice Syed Mahmud Hossain, Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, State Minister for Women and Children Affairs Meher Afroz Chumki and others attended the event.

Vatican Ambassador to Bangladesh Archbishop George Kocheri, US Ambassador Marcia Bernicat, Indian High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla and various diplomats and representatives from international organisations also took part.

The chiefs of the armed forces, the vice chancellors of the various public universities, and top civil and military officials, members of parliament, high court justices, educators, cultural figures, business and religious leaders were also in attendance.
