Eight-year-old found dead on Eid day in Dhaka

An eight-year-old child was found dead in the Bhuiyan Para area of Dhaka’s Khilgoan amid Eid celebrations across the country.

Safwan Ninad, the young nephew of journalist SM Munna, was found dead near the Baitun Nur Jame Mosque in the Bhuiyan Para Poultry Market area on Saturday afternoon, according to the police.

Mashiur Rahman, chief of the Khilgoan Police Station, told bdnews24.com that, his family members had filed a general diary stating that he was missing early that morning.

After receiving the GD, on duty officers immediately a search and discovered the body around 1:30pm on Saturday.”

His maternal uncle SM Munna, a journalist working at the Daily Samakal, told bdnews24.com that Ninad had disappeared after last night’s Ramadan prayers as he was playing in front of their house.

Munna said, Ninad and his mother used to live in Dhaka with their family. 

Ninad’s body was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital around 2:15pm for an autopsy.

Munna said no motive for the murder had been confirmed, but said that the family had been involved in a legal land dispute with neighbours.
