Two killed, 27 injured in Gaibandha as two buses collide

Two people have been killed and at least 27 others were injured after two buses collided head-on in Gaibandha’s Gobindaganj Upazila.

The accident has been reported from the Upazila’s Boalia area around 8am on Thursday, said Akhtaruzzaman, chief of the Gobindaganj Highway Police Station.

Two died on the spot and at least 27 were injured after the buses operated by Khalek Enterprise and Mayer Anchal Paribahan rammed into each other, according to the police.

One of the dead was identified as 35-year-old Mehedi Hasan, a resident of Bakalgari village under Kalai Upazila in Joypurhat and son of Mozahar Ali.

Police could not identify the others immediately.

Firefighters and police rushed to the scene to rescue the injured who were taken to nearby hospitals.
