Bangladesh taxes Uber, Pathao services
The government has imposed 5 percent value-added tax or VAT on app-based ride-sharing services such as Uber and Pathao.

The National Board of Revenue on Thursday issued a statutory regulatory order imposing VAT on the percentage of charges earned by Uber or Pathao, two major ride-sharing players in Bangladesh.
The VAT is likely to increase the cost of riding.
