High Court rules on compensation for road accident victim Nazim’s family

The High Court has issued a rule asking the authorities why Tk 10 million will not be given in compensation to the family of newspaper employee Md Nazim Uddin who died in a road crash in Dhaka last week.

The home affairs secretary, the chairman and managing director of Bangladesh Road Transport Authority, the inspector general of police, Dhaka Metropolitan Police commissioner and owners of Srabon Paribahan and Monzil Paribahan were asked to respond to the rule in 10 days.

Justice Salma Masud Chowdhury and Justice AKM Zahirul Haque passed the order on Tuesday, taking media reports into account.

On May 17, a bus ran over 38-year old Nazim Uddin's motorcycle on the Mayor Mohammad Hanif Flyover in Dhaka’s Jatrabari area.

Nazim, a senior executive of the Dhaka Tribune’s advertisement department, later died in hospital.
