Security guard found dead in Eastern Bank’s ATM booth

Police have recovered the body of a security guard from an Eastern Bank ATM booth in Dhaka’s Cantonment area.

The murder occurred at some point after sehri on Monday morning at the booth by the Cantonment Post Office, said Dhaka Metropolitan Police Cantonment Zone Assistant Commissioner Tapash Kumar Das.

“Security guard Nurunnabi’s body was found inside the booth. It was reported to police and the body was recovered and sent to the morgue. Stab wounds were found on the body.”

Police have not confirmed whether the booth was robbed, said Assistant Commissioner Das.

But, according to EBL Head of Brand and Communications Ziaul Karim, there was no indication that money had been taken from the ATM’s safe.

“We are deeply saddened by the death of a young security guard. We have informed law enforcers. They are conducting an investigation.”
