UNFPA Bangladesh office said Natalia Kanem would embark on her first visit here as Executive Director of UNFPA from May 21 to May 24.

She became UNFPA head in October 2017 with the rank of United Nations Under-Secretary-General.

She will meet Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, and Speaker Shirin Sharmin Choudhury, among others.

Kanem will also have consultative meetings with UN agencies, development partners, civil society and media to share her views on progress towards the Sustainable Development Goals and the upcoming 25th year of the International Conference on Population and Development.

The UNFPA head will engage in conversations on Bangladesh’s current maternal health, family planning, adolescent and youth, gender equality and population issues.

She will also visit Cox’s Bazar refugee camps and meet Rohingya women and girls at UNFPA-supported reproductive health clinics and Women Friendly Spaces.
