Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mazharul Islam turned down the appeals from Md Khorshed Alam and Md Wahed Ali, drivers of Swajan Paribahan and BRTC buses.

Lawyers Helal Uddin Patwary and Mohammad Yunus filed the bail petitions on behalf of Khorshed and Wahed.

The court fixed Jun 10 for the submission of a probe report on Rajib’s death.

Rajib lost his right hand after being stuck by BRTC and Sajan Paribahan buses while the drivers were trying to overtake each other in the capital's Karwan Bazar area on Apr 3.

Rajib died on Apr 17 while undergoing treatment at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.

A case was filed for reckless driving causing injuries after the incident against Wahed and Khorshed.

The drivers face up to three years in prison and a Tk 5,000 fine each, according to Sub-Inspector Mahmudur Rahman.

On April 5, the court remanded both suspects for two days in police custody for an interrogation before sending them to jail on April 8, pending trials.
