The moon for the month in the year 1439 of the Islamic calendar was not sighted in any part of the country on Wednesday, the committee said after a meeting at the Islamic Foundation in the evening.

Religious Affairs Minister Matior Rahaman announced the decision.

He said they reviewed reports from district administrations, Islamic Foundation, Meteorological Department, and the Space Research and Remote Sensing Organisation at the meeting.

Ramadan, the month of spiritual reflection and fortitude, culminates with Eid-ul-Fitr, the largest Muslim Festival.

Tarabih prayers will follow Isha prayers on Thursday night.
