He will have to answer questions relating to the allegation that he amassed illegal wealth through corruption at the ACC headquarters in Dhaka’s Segun Bagicha on May 3.

ACC Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary, who is investigating the allegation sent the letter to the top police officer on Wednesday.

ACC spokesperson Pranab Kumar Bhattacharya told bdnews24.com that Mizanur allegedly acquired wealth worth 'tens of millions of taka' using his name and others'.

The commission assigned Farid with investigating the allegation on Feb 10 after an initial investigation into a complaint.

An ACC official, requesting anonymity, said DIG Mizanur, as a high-ranking officer, got involved in irregularities and corruption like lobbying for recruitment, promotion and transfer in police.

Mizanur acquired the illegal wealth by abusing his powers, the ACC official said.

“He (Mizanur) has luxury cars, houses, flats and plots acquired using his name and others. He also has a huge amount of money in several bank accounts and fixed deposits,” the official added.

DIG Mizanur was withdrawn from Dhaka Metropolitan Police as its additional commissioner when the allegation against him of abducting a woman and marrying her forcibly, despite having a wife and children, surfaced just before the Police Week in January.
