The girl was rescued on Thursday after conducting an operation in Shahinkathi village in Rajbari, said Nabakumar Ghosh, sub-inspector of Muksudpur Jalirpar Police Camp.

The prime suspect in the abduction, 21-year-old Naim Sheikh, was also arrested during the rescue operation.

The tenth-grade schoolgirl from Muksudpur’s Gohala Union was abducted on Feb 12 while she was on her way home from a private coaching centre, her family said.

Sub-Inspector Nabakumar said her father filed a case against six people with Muksudpur police. Police found her during a raid on Naim’s house in Rajbari.

The girl has been returned to her family, while Naim is currently behind bars, he said.
