Among them, as many as 21 percent are doing business, 17 percent job and 42 percent are housewives, according to their electoral statements.
Out of the total candidates, as many as 24 women have passed junior school, two candidates studied up to tenth grade, 10 have passed SSC and seven HSC.
Only five women have graduation and six post-graduation degrees. Six others have LLB degree, meaning 17 female candidates or over 20 percent are graduates.

According to the rules, there are three female seats reserved for female councillor in every ward. Gazipur City Corporation has 57 wards.
Ayesha Akhter, a former councillor, said, "Educated councillors have some advantages to do different duties. They do not need help from others to understand the language of foreign officials who visit the area often."
