Kulfurer Nesa, mother of Rashed, suffered a stroke after hearing the death news. She was later admitted to Feni Diabetic Hospital.

Rashed, son of Rafiqul Islam in Birinchi village, went to Saudi Arabia in search of a job on Feb 6. Islam has been suffering from paralysis for long.

After remaining unemployed nearly two and a half months, the 35-year-old landed a job, bringing happy news to his family back in Bangladesh.

Hours before joining the new job, Rashed and five other Bangladeshi workers died in the fire on Wednesday that devastated a residential building of migrant workers in Holaifa, an area in Ha'il city.

His wife Shikha Majumder and three children, Zihan, 7, Safwoa, 5, and Alif, a newborn, are now facing an uncertain future.

Rina Majumder, the victim’s mother-in-law, said everybody was happy that he went to Saudi Arabia, but all dreams have now been shattered.

Rashed was survived by his two elder sisters. His father urged the government to help bring the body back home as early as possible.

The dead in Saudi fire included two brothers from Cumilla’s Chauddagram -- Emranul Haque Sohel, 34, and Imamul Haque Munna, 22; Md Sohel, 30, from the same Upazila; and two brothers -- Jasim Uddin, 26, and Md Ibrahim, 23, from Lakshmipur’s Kamalnagar area.

Anisur Rahman, another migrant worker injured in the incident, was admitted to a hospital in Ha'il in ‘critical’ condition.

In the capital Riyadh, on Apr 13, at least seven people, including six Bangladeshis, were killed and eight others were injured when a gas cylinder exploded prompting a fire in a room of a building occupied by migrant workers.
