Inter-Education Board Coordination Sub-Committee President Prof Muhammad Ziaul haq said that it had sent a proposal to the Ministry of Education to publish the results that week.

“We have sent a proposal,” he told bdnews24.com on Monday. “The ministry will finalise the date with the prime minister’s approval.”

An official at the education ministry told bdnews24.com that a notification had been sent to the prime minister proposing the release of the results between May 3 and May 7.

“The final date for the SSC results may be set on Thursday, May 3 or May 6 or May 7. The results will be published on a day the prime minister has time in her schedule.”

Traditionally the Education Minister and the chairmen of the education boards present a summary of the results to the prime minister on a set date.

The education minister then holds a press conference at the Secretariat highlighting various aspects of the results. The examinees can check their results following the end of the education minister’s press conference.

The SSC and equivalent theory exams were held between Feb 1 and Feb 25, while the practical exams were held from Feb 26 to Mar 4.

This year 2,031,889 students gave their SSC and equivalent exams at 3,412 examination centres.

In the past few years the results for the SSC and HSC exams have been released within 60 days of the end of the theory exams.
