Sadar Police Station OC MM Mizabur Rahman told bdnews24.com the fire broke out in the shop, Roaster King, on Ahsan Ahmed Road after the explosion at its kitchen around noon on Friday.

The injured include shop owner Al Amin, his neighbour Abu Taher, and Fire Service workers ‘Mamun’, ‘Farid’, and ‘Mejbah’.

A chicken supplier and two workers of the shop were also injured.

All the eight were admitted to Khulna Medical College Hospital. The three firefighters were later sent to Dhaka for better treatment, doctor Shahriar Sharif said.

OC Mizanur said the fire devastated the shop when another cylinder leaked as it caused the fire to spread quickly.

Khulna Fire Service control room operator Rabiul Islam said the firefighters doused the fire around an hour after it originated.
