US-Bangla crash: Victim Pias Roy cremated in Barisal

Pias Roy, one of US-Bangla plane crash victims, was cremated in in Barisal on Friday.

His body along with two other victims were flown to Dhaka on Thursday, whenCivil Aviation Minister AKM Shahjahan Kamal handed over the bodies to their family at the airport.

His father, Sukhendu Bikas Roy, a head teacher of Chandrakanto High School, said the body was taken to Sahera Khatun Medical College in Gopalganj, where he studied.

The relatives, teachers and his classmates attended Pias funeral held in Barisal.  Pias was the eldest among the two siblings. His mother Purnima Roy is a teacher of a local state-run primary school.  

On Mar 12, a Dash-8 Q400 plane of the airline crashed as it tried to land in the Nepali capital, killing 49 people—26 of them Bangladeshis among 36.

The bodies of the 23 victims were handed over to families on Monday. Rest of the three victims were identified later and flown back to Dhaka on Thursday.
