This will be the sixth year of the youth delegations’ visit to India since the beginning of the programme in 2012.  It is being seen as an approach to build bridges between the youths of the two neighbours.

They will take a trip to different cities in India such as New Delhi, Agra and Mumbai and see prominent cultural and historical sites, business centres, apart from holding interactions with the youth of India in educational, business, IT and technological institutions.

The High Commission of India on Thursday organised a flagging-off ceremony for them at the chancery in Dhaka.

State Minister for Information Tarana Halim, High Commissioner Harsh Vardhan Shringla, actress Nusrat Faria, actor Arefin Shuvo and Aman Reza, and musician Habib Wahid were present at the event.

The delegation includes 52 women and 48 men, drawn from different regions of the country, diverse backgrounds and educational institutions of Bangladesh.

They are doctors, artists, sportspersons, journalists, engineers, models, radio jockeys, humanities and science students, and social workers, among others.

It would be the first overseas visit for many of them.
