Two men shot and hacked to death in Noakhali

Two men have been shot and hacked to death by a mob in Noakhali’s Begumganj Upazila.

The incident occurred early on Saturday in Eklashpur village.

The dead have been identified as Md Ali and Robin, 22, both local residents.

Armed men were seen on the eastern side of Eklashpur Bazar near the VIP road, said Noakhali Superintendent of Police Md Ilias Sharif.

“They shot and hacked Robin to death and then dumped the body in the pond by the local watchman’s house. They then chased Md Ali into his aunt’s room and hacked him to death.”

The bodies have been recovered by police.

Md Ali had been accused in several cases over weapons, drugs and robbery.

Police have not been able to confirm a motive for the killings.
