Cousins die as truck hits motorbike in Benapole

Two schoolgirls have been killed and a teacher, the father of one of the girls, has been injured after a tuck rammed a motorbike in Jessore’s Sharsha.

The crash occurred on the Navaron-Satkhira road in front of First Security Bank at Bagachra Bazar on Saturday, said Politon Mia, sub-inspector of Navaron Highway Police Station.

The victims were identified as two cousins, 12-year-old Fatima Khatun and 11-year-old Zerin. Fatima was a seventh-grader and Zerin was a sixth-grader at Bagachra Girls High School. 

Bagachra College lecturer Alamgir Hossain, 45, was taking the girls to school on a motorbike.  He was admitted to a local private hospital with injuries

A sand truck veered out of control and collided with the motorcycle head-on, Sub-Inspector Politan told bdnews24.com. The teenagers died on the spot, he said.

Police recovered the bodies and have impounded the truck, but the driver and his assistant managed to flee.
