The Women and Children Oppression Prevention Tribunal delivered the verdict on Tuesday.

The other two convicts are Jahirul Islam and Yunus. Rasu Khan, accused of 11 murders, is behind bars while Yunus is on the run.

The case dates back to 2010, said Sayedul Islam, additional public prosecutor in Chandpur.

“The verdict comes in one of the nine murder cases that name Rasu Khan.”

Khan developed a romantic relationship with victim Parvin, a garment worker. He murdered her after taking her to a quiet place near a canal in Faridganj Upazila, according to Islam.

Police arrested Khan, a resident of Chandpur’s Modna village, in 2009.

A Khulna court sentenced Khan to death for raping and killing garment worker Shahida Begum in 2015. Khan has filed an appeal against the verdict.

In his confession to Chandpur’s Judicial Magistrate Amirul Islam, Khan had described how he executed the murders. He said he started his killing spree after ‘failing in love’.

He would charm and lure mostly garment workers and bring them to Chandpur. He raped the women he found attractive before killing them.

Khan said in his confession that he targeted 101 women and then planned to spend the rest of his life as an ascetic in a Sylhet shrine.
