Prof Zafar Iqbal, injured in Sylhet attack, airlifted to CMH in Dhaka

Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal is being taken to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital after he was stabbed during a programme on Shahjalal University of Science and Technology campus on Saturday.
Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal has been airlifted to Dhaka's Combined Military Hospital on CMH in Dhaka for specialised treatment, though the doctors who attended the renowned writer and university professor in Sylhet after the knife attack say 'he is out of danger'.
The professor came under attack while attending a programme at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology or SUST on Saturday.
He was immediately rushed to the Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital where attending doctors treated him at the emergency. He needed 25 to 26 stitches.
LT Col Rashidul Hasan, a director of the military’s press wing ISPR, told bdnews24.com Prof Iqbal was taken to the CMH around Saturday midnight.
Dr Ehteshamul Hoque Dulal, the additional director general of the Directorate General of Health Services and the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim earlier said Sheikh Hasina ordered the officials to bring to bring him to Dhaka by air-ambulance.
The SUST teacher suffered head injuries after he was hit on the head apparently with a iron rod and stabbed in the back and left arms with a knife and knife while he was attending an event on the campus around 5:50pm.
One person has been detained over the attack.
