Nobel Laureate Yunus condemns attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal

Nobel Peace Laureate Prof Muhammad Yunus has condemned the attack on Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal, terming it "shocking and heinous".

“I pray for his swift and full recovery and express my earnest hope that the assailants will be apprehended and be brought to justice at the fastest speed", Yunus said in a statement on Saturday.

An unidentified young man stabbed him in the head during a programme at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology or SUST in Sylhet. One person has been detained over the attack.

Prof Iqbal was undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital. He would be airlifted to Dhaka for better treatment.
