Hasina condemns the attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal, orders action against assailants

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has ‘strongly’ condemned the attack on Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal in Sylhet.

She ordered officials to take quick action to identify the assailants and bring them to justice, the Prime Minister’s Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim told bdnews24.com on Saturday evening.

Karim said the prime minister was also getting regular updates of Prof Zafar Iqbal, who was being treated in Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital and was about to be brought to Dhaka for better treatment around 8pm.

An unidentified young man stabbed him in the head during a programme at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology or SUST in Sylhet. One person has been detained over the attack.
