BNP sees ‘plot’ behind attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal

The BNP thinks the attack on Prof Muhammed Zafar Iqbal at Shahjalal University of Science and Technology in Sylhet is a ‘plot' by certain quarters to take advantage of the situation.

Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir made the comments in reply to media queries at the BNP chief’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Saturday evening.

“The BNP strongly condemns the attack on Prof Zafar Iqbal,” he said.

“We think it’s a conspiracy. Those who want to take advantage of this type of incidents did this,” he added.

An unidentified young man hit on the head and stabbed Prof Zafar Iqbal during a programme on SUST campus. One person has been detained over the attack.
