The device would be recovered by a team of RAB bomb disposal experts, said District Administration NDC Arifur Rahman.

The package, wrapped in red tape, was noticed by locals on Saturday morning and office workers were alerted regarding it, Rahman told the media. The officials then contacted police and RAB.

“Three units of police and RAB arrived at the scene. They cordoned off the package. A RAB bomb disposal squad will examine the package and dispose of it once they arrive,” Rahman said.

“We came to the scene after hearing news of a bomb,” said Kotowali Police Station SI Mahbubur Rahman. “The package is wrapped in red tape. We believe it to be a handbomb. It has been cordoned off until the bomb disposal team arrives and people are being redirected away from the area.”

How the package came to be at the offices is still being investigated, Mahbubur said.

RAB-6 Jessore Camp Deputy Assistant Director Farid Mia said that the package could not be recovered until the trained RAB bomb disposal team arrived from Khulna, which could take some time.
