Police release 11 foreigners detained in Cox’s Bazar for not carrying passports

Police have released 11 foreign nationals who were detained by the Rapid Action Battalion or RAB for not carrying passports near a Rohingya camp at Ukhia in Cox’s Bazar.

RAB detained the foreigners in front of a relief centre near Ukhia Degree College around 2:30pm.

Ukhia Police Station OC Md Abul Khayer said they released the detained foreigners around 8:4pm after officials of their organisation, Médecins Sans Frontières or MSF, brought their passports and other documents.

He added the detained foreigners were involved with the MSF hospital at Kutupalong refugee camp.

They include two from the UK and Italy each, and one each from the Netherlands, Turkey, South Korea, Kenya, Brazil, Belgium and Norway.
