Mymensingh suffered the highest casualties, where four people died after a bus plunged into a pond on Friday.
Ishwarganj Police Station OC Badrul Alam said the driver lost control on the way to Bhairab while overtaking a bicycle around 10am.
In Natore, three motorcycle riders died when a bus ran over it in Hatikumrul on Natore-Bonparha Highway around 12:30pm, Gurudaspur Police Station OC Dilip Kumar Das said.
Two passengers of a rickshaw van in Madaripur died when a truck ran over the three-wheeler at Sadar Upazila in the afternoon, injuring two others, Sadar Police Station OC Kamrul Hasan said.
In Feni’s Sadar Upazila, two people died and another was injured when a covered-van hit a pick-up truck parked on the Dhaka-Chittagong Highway around 4am.
Muhuriganj Police Camp Sub-Inspector Md Mahbubul Alam said the three victims were the driver of the pick-up truck and his two assistants.
The injured person was admitted to Chittagong Medical College Hospital in a ‘critical’ condition, he said.
In Gazipur, a human-hauler vehicle ran over and killed a man on the Dhaka-Mymensingh Highway at Jainabazar around 12pm, Mawna Highway Police Station OC Delwar Hossain said.
A young man had died on the same highway at Garhgarhia earlier in the morning after being run over by a vehicle, the OC added.
A covered-van at Baniarchharha in Cox’s Bazar rolled over and fell into a ditch, killing two passers-by who were walking along the highway towards Chittagong around 6pm.
Chiringa Highway Police Camp Sub-Inspector Md Noor-e-Alam said one of the two victims was a woman from Chittagong while the other could not be immediately identified.
