The information was provided at a media briefing on Sunday by RAB-5 Commander Lt Col Mohammad Mahbubul Alam.

The detainees have been identified Shahebjan Ali, 35, Abul Kalam Azad, 28, and Jahangir Alam, 28.

RAB seized 500g of gunpowder, two books of extremist propaganda, 40g of soda, 40g of chalk, seven extremist propaganda leaflets and other bomb-making materials in their possession, RAB said.

“A RAB team conducted an operation at Shahebjan Ali’s home in Tanore’s Bilsahar Village around 3:30am on Sunday based on a tip,” said Commander Mahbubul.

“The home was searched, the three were detained and the bomb-making materials were seized.”

RAB officials say the three are part of banned Islamic terror outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh or JMB.
