Bangladesh has been experiencing heat waves across the country, with a high of 41.5 degrees Celsius in Chuadanga on Friday
The incident was reported late on Thursday from Keraniganj, at the outskirts of the city, said police.
Around 11:30pm, a transformer inside a shop in Najirabaad area exploded causing a fire to break out, said Sub Inspector Mohidul. He, however, could not provide any details.
Three people were rushed to the Dhaka Medical College Hospital or DMCH, where the doctors pronounced 22-year-old Babur dead.
The two others, who are being treated with burns, have been identified as Mostafiz, 45 and Rafiqul, 26.
DMCH police camp’s Sub-Inspector Bachchu Mia told bdnews24.com that Rafiqul suffered 17 percent burns while Mostafiz two percent.
